An introduction to Scouting

The aims of the Scout Association

The aim of the Scout Association is to promote the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities.

Scouting today

The Scout Association has recently celebrated its Centenary and is now looking forward to the next 100 years of Scouting.

It all started in 1907 when Robert Baden-Powell organised an experimental camp for a group of young boys. To day Scouting is one of the largest organisations World-wide with more than 28 million members spread over 200 countries.

Be part of Scouting

The great things about Scouting is everybody is welcome to be part of it. People who are aged between 6 and 25 can be youth members whilst anyone over 25 can be an adult member.

If you are interested in taking part then visit our joining section for further details.
