Where is Walsall
Walsall is an industrial town located northwest from the City of Birmingham and east of the City of Wolverhampton and forms part of the West Midlands conurbationin.
Traditionally Walsall is within the county of Staffordshire and is often described as part of the Black Country, and area of England that was once rich with Coal.
The Black Country derived its name due to heavy pollution particularly from iron and coal industries within the area, however much of the heavy industry has now largely gone and the Black Country now has clean air.
Population
The industrial revolution changed Walsall from a village of 2,000 people in the 16th century to a town of over 86,000 in the 18th century. In the 2001 census Walsall has a population of 170,994.
Attrations
Of the attrations Walsall has to offer the [e] Walsall Illuminations are one worth a visit which takes place in the Arboretum every Autum since 1951.
As part of the Millenium celebrations the [e] New Art Gallery was opened. It was built with £21 million of public funding and won an international design competition.
