Badges for Scouts

The following badges can only be gained while in the Scout Section. In addition to the badges below there are the Staged Activity badges which are available to all sections.

The Challenge badges

There are nine Challenge Badges that have been developed to enhance the skills and experience of Scouts. They are the the Promise Challenge, the Outdoor Challenge, the Outdoor Plus Challenge, the Creative Challenge, the Fitness Challenge, the Global Challenge, the Community Challenge, the Adventure Challenge and finally the Expedition Challenge.

Activity badges

Activity badges are optional and provide an opportunity to reward a young person who has taken part in an activity over a period of time. Currently there are seventy badges covering a range of topics including Angler, Astronomer, Camper, Canoeist, Climber, Cyclist, Electronics, Hill Walker, Lifesaver, Martial Arts, Meteorologist, Navigator, Photographer, Sports Enthusiast, Survival Skills and finally Writer.

The Chief Scout's Gold Award

This badge is the highest award available in the Sub Scout Section. It is gained after successfully completing all of the Challenge Badges.
