Promise and Law

Before anybody can officially join the Scouting Association, they must make a promise and learn a law. This applies to all sections of the Scout Association from Beavers to Leaders.

After a new member has been attending 1st Walsall Scout Group for a number of weeks and they are sure they would like to become an official member of the Scouting Association, they are invested, and at this ceremony they say the promise and law which is relevant to the section they are joining.

Below is the Cub Scout Promise and Cub Scout Law. There is also the Scouting motto which is be prepared which features in our logo. B.P. also happens to be the initials for Baden Powell who started Scouting.

Promise

I promise that I will do my best
To do my duty to God and to the Queen,
To help other people
And to keep the Cub Scout Law.

Law

Cub Scouts always do their best
Think of others before themselves
And do a good turn every day.
